Salman Khan Comes To Karan Johar’s Rescue, Calls Up Raj Thackeray
The controversy surrounding Pakistani artistes seems to be getting uglier by the day. This afternoon, we told you that around 100 MNS workers were arrested outside Karan Johar’s office in Andheri (West) (100 MNS Workers Get Arrested Outside Karan Johar’s Office, Sept 27). A couple of days ago, the filmmaker had also confessed that he feels that he is a vulnerable soft target (Karan Johar: Today, I Feel I Am A Vulnerable Soft Target, Sept 25). In such a scenario, guess who came to his rescue? It’s none other than good friend, Salman Khan.

According to a source, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor called up MNS President Raj Thackeray earlier in the day and requested him to put an end to the matter and let Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and other films such as Raees starring Shah Rukh and Mahira Khan release. Interestingly, Ae Dil... stars his ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai.

You may recall that MNS has categorically told Karan that they will stop Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s release until Fawad Khan’s role is completely chopped off (BJP says 'Release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees but only if Fawad and Mahira's roles are completely chopped', Sept 23).
Another source says, “Those in the industry who are aware of Salman’s call and support Karan are impressed by his gesture.”

Now, we all know that Salman and Karan never had a smooth relationship. While their friendship began several years ago, it was the actor’s decision to opt out of the filmmaker’s much-ambitious Shuddhi that left the latter miffed. Later, reports suggested that Salman had stopped talking to Karan over his participation in All India Bakchod’s knockout roast, which also targeted his darling sister, Arpita Khan. In fact, speculations were rife that Karan’s participation in AIB was the reason that Salman walked out of Shuddhi. However, with time the two buried the hatchet.
Coming back to the controversy, a few days ago, MNS had issued a diktat asking Pakistani actors to leave the country in 48 hours in wake of the terrorist attack in Uri which killed 18 soldiers.
Now let’s see if MNS will pay heed to Salman’s request.
